Once upon a time, not too long ago (although I guess that depends on when you're reading this, but it's not too long ago at the time of writing - the evening of 07/11/08 which happens to be a Friday evening, a mere fortnight since GASFest), there was an acoustic jam which began in a bar, it began in bar 1, moved into bar 2, as proficiently as a blues could be used to pay dues to the dudes who always lose......
This jam was in G, a good key, a strong key, and a 'key of comfort' for the contributers to this jam, and this jam......
well..........
It never really got successfully finished...
One day, the key of G will be given another shot at being great again, being used for it's true purpose, an all out acoustic jam in G...
The jam that was meant to be, in G.... |

Hey Nik, a slightly odd post unless it is one of those 'you need to have been there' posts. Anyhoo, if you were jamming the blues you will need to get to bar 12 before you can finish it! |

Cryptic....
I've spend the last few days jamming in F, Bb etc. Since i've met a great sax player at uni, we'll wait to see if this develops. _________________ "Put them in the Iron Maiden.."

Ah, the other 2 guys (or gals? I'm guessing here) who actually frequent Clarkys forum are in on this one!
It wasn't meant to be quite so cryptic. It was a reference to GASFest, where Clarky, Lewy, and myself all played sets (of different lengths).
After the 'official' timetable had been completed, the unofficial timetable began, and at that point, Dave (thing from the old intermusic, and subsequently music radar forum), Lewy (reso and slide master), one Mr P Clark, and myself, started a bit of an acoustic jam.
It was cut cruelly short (but fair enough really), by a guy who had won the Morgan guitar in the raffle! He had it plugged into an amp and was belting out some Hendrix before we got to the end of the 12 bar! |

Fair enough. GASfest sounded an absolute blast, from how you guys described it. _________________ "Put them in the Iron Maiden.."

it really was a blast....
I've been to two of them now...
loved them both...
the really cool thing is that it's a chance to forumites to meet face to face..
when this happens, the dynamics of people's relationships completely change..
it really is cool _________________

100% agree there!
I was a GASFest newbie! First time, and I'm on first with the first tune of the night!
The dynamics between the people there were improved so much! It's incredible to see how much people hide behind their on screen anonymity!
Twas indeed a very "healthy" gathering. |

hahaaa.... totally....
knowing someone face to face is soooooo different to knowing them on-line....
and for the internet trolls and bully boys, there's always the bravery of being out of range... lmao... _________________

Gasfest 2010 is being spoken of on the crusty old "wetherspoons" forum (as opposed to this nice little country pub forum here with real ale on tap, good company, good conversation, and a decent fire in the grate)....
I just wondered if (availability permitting) we could have a bit of a play... |

Work load permitting, I'd like to go the fest...
I don't have time to prep anything serious though cos I'm touring in Feb
and I'm working on 3 albums right now - all at the same time...
if it can be made possible, I'd love to.. _________________
